Violet Butland
1922-2011 - Violet Josephine Butland, 88, of Germantown passed away at her home on February 26, 2011. Violet was born at Harvey, Albert Co, NB on September 15th, 1922 the daughter of the late Vernon and Lottie (Cannon) Brewster. She worked as a cook and in housecleaning at Fundy National Park, Alma and last at Forest Dale Home before retiring. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Her hobbies were reading; growing and tending to her many plants. Violet will be remembered for her kindness and her sweet smile. She was always attending baby showers, wedding showers, suppers and all community events. Most of all she loved spending time with her family and friends, they were so important to her. She was a very special lady who will live on in the hearts of her family forever. She will be deeply missed by her daughter, Alfretta Hawkes of Moncton; sons, James Butland(Marina) of Ontario, Gary Butland of Germantown and Scott Butland (Wendy) of Hillsborough; her seven grandchildren, Kim, Darren, Jennifer, Chris, Angela, Jason, Erin and Lucas and eight great grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Irene Brewster, Mildred Brewster and Lena Butland all of Riverside-Albert and Helen Wheeler of Ontario. She will also be missed by several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents she was predeceased by her beloved husband Parker Butland; daughter Elsie Mae Butland; son-in-law, Weldon Hawkes; brothers, Howard Brewster and Arden Brewster; sisters, Annie Brewster (Bill) and Verna Bennett (Arnold); brothers-in-law, Earl Wheeler and Ronald Butland.
She will be resting at the Albert County Funeral Home with visitation on Wednesday evening from 7 to 9pm. The Funeral Service will be held at the Albert County Funeral Home on Thursday, March 3rd, 2011 at 2:00pm with Bishop Frank Penny officiating. Following the service the family will be meeting with relatives and friends for further sharing of memories and for refreshments at the funeral home. Interment will be held in the Alma United Cemetery in the spring. Donations to the Riverside-Albert Volunteer Fire Department or to the charity of the donor's choice would be appreciated by the family.
