Earle "Bud" Johnson

The death of Bud Johnston of Nauwigewauk, husband of Elizabeth “Betty” Ann Mildred (Woods) Johnston, occurred February 26, 2011 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. He was born December 26, 1937 in Saint John, son of the late Harvey and Annie (Shannon) Johnston.
Bud was a graduate of Electrical training from Saint John Vocational in 1956. He was employed and retired from NB Tel after 37 years service. He enjoyed the great outdoors, fishing, hunting, camping and trailering at Town and Country and spending time with family and friends. Bud was a member of St. Andrews United Kirk Church, Hammond River where he served as Elder and Trustee, S.J.V.S. Alumni Association, Nauwigewauk Community Club, and a Life Member of Telephone Pioneers of America. He was a former member of the Communications Workers of Canada Union, former leader of Boy Scouts of Canada, RCMP Auxiliary, and Captain of Nauwigewauk Fire Department. Besides his loving wife Betty of 48 years he is survived by his son, Barry Robert Johnston (Gena Ramsay) of Nauwigewauk; daughter, Beverley Ann Shepard (Ben) of Hampton; grandson Patrick and granddaughter Amanda; sisters, Vera Taylor of Quispamsis, Connie Burley, of Saint John, Shirley McNeill of West Saint John, and Donna Daggett (Larry) of Lorneville; brother-in-law, Jim Smith; sisters-in-law, Joan Johnston, Marjorie Johnston and Bernice Johnston; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister Eleanor; brothers Burton, Donald and Raymond; son, Kevin Earle; and granddaughter Morgan Lynn.
Resting at Reid’s Funeral Home (506-832-5541), 1063 Main Street, Hampton with visitation on Tuesday from 2:00pm to 8:00pm. The funeral will be held 11:00am, Wednesday, March 2, 2011 at St. Andrews United Kirk Church, 196 Hammond River Road, Quispamsis with Rev. Karen MacNeill officiating. A reception will immediately follow the funeral service in the church hall. Interment will take place in Hampton Rural Cemetery in the spring. For those who wish, remembrances can be made to St. Andrews United Kirk Church Memorial Fund, Hammond River.
