Passed peacefully away at St. Clare’s Mercy Hospital on February 27, 2011, age 82 years. Born in Fox Harbour, Placentia Bay but lived in St. John’s since 1967. Predeceased by his loving wife Catherine Duke (1991), parents Isaac and Sara Duke, stepmother Susie, brothers: Michael, Maurice, Henry and sisters: Nora and Mary Ellen. Celebrating his life with fond memories, wife Agnes Duke; brother Francis Duke; daughters: Pauline Duke and husband Jim Oldford, Cathy Duke and husband Ron King, Nora Duke and husband Terry Kennedy, and son Patrick Duke and wife Lesa Mulrooney-Duke. Loving grandfather to: Jonathan, Seamus, Katie, Emma, Elizabeth, Ben, Sherri-lynn, Patrick and Max. Also, many cherished members of the Duke, Murray and King families as well as nieces, nephews and a wide circle of friends and former colleagues. The family expresses special gratitude to Drs. Roger Butler and Allison Sinnott-Drover, his family doctors, for their wonderful and thoughtful care over the years and to the physicians and staff of the Dr. Leonard A. Miller Centre and 7 East St. Clare’s. Friends and family will be received on Tuesday, March 1st, 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m., Wednesday, March 2nd, 10 a.m.-noon, 2–4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. at Caul’s Funeral Home, LeMarchant Road, St. John’s. Funeral Mass at Corpus Christi Church on Thursday, March 3rd at 9:30 a.m. Interment to follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. Flowers gratefully accepted or donations can be made to the Dr. Leonard A.
