It is with sadness we announce the passing of Audrey Kezel, 72, of Curran Street, New Waterford, July 13, 2009, at New Waterford Consolidated Hospital.
Born in Glace Bay, she was a daughter of the late John Allan and Christine Irene (Spears) MacNeil.
Audrey was a member of Calvin United Church, New Waterford.
She began her employment with the New Waterford Consolidated Hospital as a house mother for the nursing students and continued her work in numerous departments within the hospital. Audrey enjoyed gardening and playing cards with her friends on the weekend. She truly loved her children and grandchildren and they in return loved her dearly.
Surviving are daughters, Gail (Victor) Kezel, Anita (John) McIsaac, both of New Waterford; son, Wayne Kezel, Loch Lomond; brothers, Gordon (Marion), Glace Bay, Norman (Sharon), Halifax; sister, Marjorie (Robert) Taylor, Sydney; grandsons, Adam, Matthew, Stephen, Ryan; granddaughters, Nadina, Jacquelyn, Robyn, Lisa, Samantha, Holly; great-grandchild, Kaydence.
Visitation will be held Wednesday from 7-9 p.m. at V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 380 Smith St., New Waterford. A funeral service will take place Thursday, July 16 at 2 p.m. in Calvin United Church with Rev. Duncan Roach officiating. Burial will be in Union Grove Cemetery, Scotchtown, with a luncheon to follow at Calvin Hall. Audrey’s remains will be taken to Calvin Church at noon on Thursday.
Donations in her memory may be made to the Cancer Patient Care Fund at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, VON, or a charity of one’s choice.
