It is with great sadness that the family of Noreen Hovey announce her death at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital on March 2nd, 2011 at the age of 91. Born in Boiestown, NB on April 11th, 1919, she was the daughter of the late Howard and Ivy (Spencer) McAllister. Noreen leaves behind her daughters, Alena McAlasdair-Hovey of Moncton, June (Robert) Scott of Miramichi, Carole (Dr. Douglas) Hovey-Smith of Fredericton and Mavis Hovey (John) of Canterbury, NB; sister, Lois McNutt of Truro, NS; 12 grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; and caring friend, Rose Marie Currie. In addition to her parents, Noreen was predeceased by the love of her life, John Hovey, and sister, Ella Spencer. Noreen graduated from the Provincial Normal School in Fredericton and was an active member in the Anglican Church her whole life.
There will be no visitation at her request. The funeral service will be held at Christ Church Cathedral, Fredericton, on Friday, March 4th, 2011 at 2 pm with The Very Rev. Keith Joyce officiating. Interment will be in St. James Anglican Cemetery, Ludlow, NB, in the spring.
