It is with sad regret we announce the passing of Alfred ‘Alfie’ Scott, 67, Tuesday, March 1, 2011, at the QE II Health Complex, Halifax, with his best friend and loving wife and family by his side.
Born in North Sydney, he was the son of the late Robert Nelson Scott and Hazel (Warren) (Scott) McAdam and stepfather Bill McAdam.
Alfie was a member of St. Pius X parish, Sydney Mines. Alfie was retired from Devco Prince Colliery. During his younger years he loved playing hockey and ball and was an avid Habs and Blue Jays fan. He also enjoyed his music and played in different bands. He loved playing guitar at the camp ground and house parties. He also loved spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife, Linda Ann (Forrest) Scott of 46 years; daughters, Belinda (Michael Theriault), Nadine, Krista (Anson McEachern); sons, Alfie Jr. (Priscilla), Joey (Shirley), Kevin (Sarah); son-in-law, Brian Rideout; loving grandchildren, Michael, Alicia, Jessica, Lawrence, Andrea, Emily, Jaedyn, Quinn, Ronan, Jersey, Tamara and Charlie and great-grandchildren, Julianna, Brooke, Ryder and Alexander. Alfie is also survived by four sisters, Violet Taylor, Rachael, Marie (Clarence Fudge), Sharon (Martin Doyle); four brothers, Nelson, (Johanna), David (Marie), Joe, all of North Sydney, and Conrad, Halifax; sisters-in-law, Joan Campbell, Eileen Morrison, Pat Marsh ,Brenda McAdam, Thelma Scott, Jerry MacNeil; brothers-in-law, Russell (Audrey) Forrest, Lloyd (Millie) Forrest, Melvin (Rosina) Forrest, Donnie (Beryl) Forrest and Kevin Forrest.
He was predeceased by brothers, Billy McAdam, Bobby, George, Finney and Ronnie Scott, sisters, Mildred Rout and Mary, brothers-in-law, Lawrence Taylor, Sonny and Edward Forrest, Lawrence Marsh, Jimmy Morrison and Heck Campbell, sisters-in-law, Mable and Doreen Scott.
There will be no visitation. The funeral Mass celebrating Alfred’s life will take place Saturday, March 5 at 10 a.m. in St. Pius X Church, with Fr. Ajit Kerketta officiating. A reception will follow in the parish hall.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Alfred’s memory may be made to the Northside Hospital Foundation.
