Born in Kitscoty, AB, Idell taught in one room schools in rural Alberta before marrying Jack and residing in Lloydminster, AB. Semi-retired to Kamloops in 1967 working at Sweet 16 and Cecile's Lady's Wear. A tireless volunteer at R.I.H. Thrift Shop for many years.

Predeceased by her husband John Clifford (Jack) Messum in 2003.

Survived by daughter Barbara (Mike) Webber and grandson Ryan Richard; son Harold (Julie) and granddaughters Karen (Manu) and Kara.
