1917-2011 - It is with sadness we announce the death of Gerald Boyd of Johnville, which occurred on Sunday, March 6, 2011 at Riverside Court, Woodstock. Born November 23, 1917 in Johnville, he was the son of the late Walter and Mary (Hurley) Boyd. Gerald graduated from St. Thomas College in Chatham, NB in 1935 and returned home to Johnville. He was well known for his love of community, church, music, dancing and a flare for storytelling. He took pride in his many years of involvement in the Johnville Picnic/ Harvest Suppers, caring for the Parish properties as well as running the outdoor rinks in Johnville and Bath. Gerald is survived by his children, Rose Boyd (Ed Smith), Jane Boyd – Aucoin (Victor), Mary Robarts (Scott) and John Boyd (Lydia); six grandchildren, Matthew, Joshua, Rebecca, Brynn, Gareth and Jena; brothers and sisters in laws, Tom Crain (Linda), Ellie Kane (Joe), Anita Crain, Leroy Piercy and Connie Banks. He was predeceased by his parents, wife, Margaret, infant sister, Mary and granddaughter, Katelyn Robarts.
Visitation will be held from L.R. Giberson Funeral Directors, 207 Burnham Rd. Florencville–Bristol on Tuesday, March 8, 2011 from 2 to 4 and 7 to pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, March 9, 2011 at 10:00 am from St. John the Evangelist Church, Johnville. Fr. David Fulton as celebrant. Interment will be in the Johnville Cemetery at a later date.
