MARY CATHERINE “MAE” MCVEIGH
We, the family of the late Mae McVeigh, who passed away on February 25, 2011 at the Glace Bay Healthcare Corporation, wish to express our sincere thanks and appreciation to friends, neighbors and relatives for the kindness and thoughtfulness shown to us during the loss of our Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother, sister and friend. To those who attended the wake and funeral; brought food, visited, called or emailed our homes; expressed sympathy through cards, online condolences, Masses, monetary donations in Mum’s memory; sent flowers, thank you. To those who brought back smiles through their kind words and stories (mostly from her many years in the store), it was much appreciated. Special thanks to Drs. R. MacKay, M. Ellerker and R. Rebelo, the nurses in the ER department, 3rd East and ICU for your compassionate care of our Mother during her two days in hospital. To the many present and former co-workers of Mae’s children and families, your support was greatly appreciated. Many thanks to Father Leo Boone for administering the Last Rites and to Father Daniel Boudreau for conducting the funeral Mass of Resurrection, his wonderful words about Mum and for leading the internment in St. Eugene’s Cemetery. Also, thanks to Ricky Mazzocca, Stanley “Stump” MacDonald and Michael Corbett for making the internment possible. Thanks to St. Eugene’s Choir and Billy MacPherson for his superb solo of “Gentle Woman”; to the altar servers John Gromack (brother-in-law) and Annabelle Higgins; to the Eucharistic Minister Isabelle Musial; to the readers Daina, Gary, Tara, Caroline, Bobbi, Brennan, and Lloyd (grandchildren); to the pallbearers Alan and Lloyd (sons-in-law), Brennan, Robert, Lloyd and Luke (grandchildren). To Mike and Joe Currie and the staff of Currie’s Funeral Home, your guidance, support, thoughtfulness and compassion truly made a difficult time bearable for us. To each and everyone, we will always remember your kindness and compassion. Your support to us in our time of grief will continue to provide strength to us in the difficult days ahead. For this we will always be grateful, thank you.
