King, Catherine Mae — 61 of Hants Border, Kings County passed away peacefully after a long courageous battle with cancer. Born in Windsor, N.S., she was a daughter of June (Morgan) and the late Graham Sanford. Cathy was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister and friend. She loved poetry, cooking, baking, crafting and spending time with her grandchildren. Her family meant everything to her. She really enjoyed the simple things in life. She loved to cruise in her “Sassy ’69” Beaumont, which was as spunky as she was. Although diagnosed with MS in her late 30s, she never let it slow her down. Those who knew her well would say that she had a strong constitution and a zest for life. She is survived by her loving husband, Garnet; son, Ryan (Suzanne); daughter, Carrie (Brian); mother, June; sister, Linda (Malcolm); brothers, Mark (Kim), Blair, and Graham (Sara Jean); granddaughters, Emily and Laura; grandson, Morgan; brother’s-in-law, Morris (Barb), and Angus Johnson; sister’s-in-law Beulah (Percy McNulty) Moncton, Judy, and Elaine (Stan Wilson); as well as many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her father, Graham; mother-in-law, Mona (Shaw); father-in-law, Foster; and sister-in-law, Edith Johnson. At Catherine’s request, cremation has taken place. There was no visitation. A graveside service was held on Sunday Feb. 13 at 2 p.m. at the Riverbank Cemetery, Hantsport, with a reception following at the Hants Border Hall at 2:30 p.m. Arrangements were under the care and direction of Serenity Lindsay Funeral & Crematorium, 568 Main Street, Wolfville, N.S., B4P 1E7.
