Margaret Jeanette Watkins (Murphy)
Watkins (Murphy), Margaret Jeanette -96- passed away March 06, 2011 peacefully in Ivy Meadows Continuing Care Centre, Beaver Bank. She was born in Yarmouth on March 11, 1915, to Herbert and Emma (Clark) Murphy, one of the nine children. She was predeceased by her husband of 53 years, Lovitt Augustus Watkins. Janet is survived by her daughters, Lorraine (Dave) Pinkney, Beaver Bank; ruby (Paul) Gaudet, Oshawa, Ont; sons, Clarence Watkins, Belleville, Ont; John Roger (Gretchen) Watkins, East Stewiacke; Paul (Barb) Watkins, Edmonton, Ata. She is also survived by 11 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren and three
great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by sisters, Glenna King, Marjory Deming, Eleanor Trefry and brother, Malcolm Murphy. She is lovingly remembered for her kind heart, her endless desire to help others and her energetic manner. She very much enjoyed the company of her family and trips to visit her sisters in Yarmouth, her daughter in Ontario and her son's family in Edmonton. Her trip West to the Rocky Mountains left lasting memories of her fun-loving and energetic spirit. She also enjoyed family members coming to visit her and would indulge them with the best of hospitality. She enjoyed gardening and helping to care for the horses and other animals on the farm where she shared a home with her son, Roger and family, for 29 years. She also enjoyed a nice Sunday afternoon at the Harness Track, among family and friends, watching family members race. She was mostly a homemaker, however, she did teach Seamstress classes at Truro Vocational School and she will be well-remembered for her delicate quilting, where each of her children, many grandchildren and great-grandchildren have keepsakes of her love and talent. She will be thought of fondly with many sweet memories and missed dearly by all. We will greave her passing, but also will celebrate her life. In accordance with family wishes, cremation has taken place and a private family celebration of life will be held in the spring in Yarmouth County. Donations may be made in Janet's memory to Alzheimer Society of Nova Scotia or a charity of choice. A very heartfelt thank you to all of the staff at Ivy Meadows for their loving concern and care of Janet, during her time there.`
