It is with broken hearts that we announce the sudden passing of Robert Lewis Simpson, 71, on Tuesday, March 08, 2011, at his home in Florence.
Born in Florence, he was the son of the late Robert and Veronica (King) Simpson. He was a member of St. Stephen’s Parish, Florence.
Robert was an employee of Devco for 36 years, before his retirement in 1992. He was a pure gentleman who always had a smile on his face. He was an avid bowler, and enjoyed being with his friends and family.
He will be sadly missed by his wife and best friend, Arlene (Vickers); brothers Walter and David, Sydney Mines, James and John, Saskatoon, Sask.; sister Shirley Pentecost, Florence; and aunt Edith MacMullin, Sydney Mines. He was like a father to his nephew Buddy (Tracy) Pentecost, niece Shauna (Sean) Moore, and a loving great-uncle to Carrington and Matthew Pentecost.
To honor his wishes, there will be no visitation. The funeral mass celebrating his life will be held on Friday, March 11, 2011, at 10 a.m. in St. Stephen’s Church, Florence, with Fr. Thomas John officiating. After the service, a reception will take place at the Florence Legion.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Robert’s memory may be made to the Cystic Fibrosis Society, or a charity of one’s choice.
