Bill, aged 79, from Stratford, P.E.I., passed away peacefully at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, July 12, 2009. He was born the fifth child of Leah and Elmer’s loving family in Melanson, Nova Scotia. He leaves behind his eight brothers and sisters; Ed, Thelma, Mary, Josephine, Bob, Peter, Lila and Patricia. He also will be sorely missed by his wife, Joanne, (nee MacIntyre) and their son, Troy; his former wife, Muriel (nee MacQuarrie) and their daughter, Judi (David), and son, Boyd (Catherine); extended family and many friends. Bill was a wonderful father, a farmer, a tradesperson, a part-time fisherman and a lover of wildlife, especially birds and race horses. For much of his life, he was a gifted and generous addictions counsellor. Many people tribute Bill with turning their lives around and he was always available to support their recovery. The family wishes to thank the nursing staff of Unit 8, Queen Elizabeth Hospital. They cared for Bill with great kindness and dignity. At Bill’s request there will be no funeral home visitation or public service. As an expression of sympathy, memorial donations may be made to Talbot House.
