It is with sadness that we announce Don’s passing on March 8th, 2011, at the Health Sciences Centre after complications resulting from a stroke and aneurysm suffered in 2006. Predeceased by his father Donald Templeman in 1968, his mother Lorraine Simmons in 1998, his step-father Donald Simmons in 1990, and father-in-law Clancy Canning in 1999. Left behind to remember Don for his love of life, family, friends, cabin in Baie de L‘eau, motorcycling and salmon fishing are his wife Vivian (nee Canning), daughter Nadine (Gerry), son Troy (Tara), and Don’s pet cat “Zephyr”. Also mourning Don are his sister Joy James (Don) of Dartmouth, N.S., brother Max Norris (Kay) of Mount Pearl, NL., mother-in-law Mildred Canning of Lewisporte, only surviving aunt Elaine Childs of Surrey, B.C., and special cousin and fishing buddy Wayne Dawe (Elaine) of Mount Pearl who has stood behind Don during his illness with weekly visits to Chancellor Park to help Don participate in his loved “bowling challenge“. The family is exceptionally grateful and appreciative to the dedicated staff of Chancellor Park Long Term Care facility for becoming Don’s “other family”, who all reached out to his needs with kindness and humour and have left a legacy of caring in our hearts that we will forever promote.
