1929 -2011
Roger Chicoine, age 81, beloved husband of Muriel Chicoine passed away in a Saskatoon hospital on Wednesday, March 9, 2011 with family by his side. Prayer service will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 13 from River Park Memorial Chapel. Sister Renée Buliard will officiate. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, March 14 from Sacred Heart Cathedral, 1401 – 4 Avenue West by Father Maurice Fiolleau. Roger is survived by his loving family: his beloved wife of 58 years of marriage Muriel (née Vandale); his two daughters, six grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren Louise (William Smith) of Sylvan Lake, AB and their family Shawn (Michelle) Tanner, Wyatt and Kieran of Cochrane, AB, Faye (Darcy) Ronnie, Natalia, Morgan and Samantha of Carbon, AB, Jay-Lynn (Marty) Jasmine and Katie of Carbon, AB, Simon (Tanya) Brian, Johnny, Tenisa and Selena of Carbon, AB; Lorraine (Harvey Cochet) of Prince Albert and their family Chad (Cindy) Justin and Jordyn of Prince Albert, Corrie (Dale) Brody of Prince Albert; his sisters Rita Perreault, Claire Tyson and Fern (Bob) Ethier; one sister-in-law Alma Chicoine; one brother-in-law Jean (Florence) Gareau and nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents Saul and Eva Chicoine; his five brothers Paul, Gaston, Armand, Raymond and Gerald; his one sister Muriel Gareau; his father-in-law and mother-in-law Simon and Maria Vandale and numerous brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law. Roger was born on October 22, 1929 in Hoey, SK. Farming was his lifelong passion, but his six grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren were his pride and joy. It is the family’s request that those wishing to place memorials may do so to the Saskatchewan Lung Association or to the Heart & Stroke Foundation.
