Surrounded by his family Louis J. Roy passed away at the Oromocto Public Hospital on March 8th, 2011 at the age of 92. Born in St. Paul, NB on January 1st, 1919 he was the son of the late Edward and Melina (Arsenault) Roy. Louis leaves behind his step-son, Douglas (Linda) Moore of Rusagonis; step-daughter, Muriel (Bill) Morgan of Nasonworth; brothers, Arthur (Lee) Roy of Victoria, BC and Eddie Roy of Wyoming; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; one great great grandchild and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Louis was predeceased by his first wife, Joyce Lapointe Roy; second wife, Muriel "Tony" Avis Roy; sister Laura and infant sister Irma; three brothers, Emery, Eric and Raymond; two step-sons, Lester and Truman; and special nephew, Danny Defazio. Louis worked as a plumber at Base Gagetown for many years. He was a veteran of WWII and a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch # 4. Louis was an active member of the Rusagonis Baptist Church where he served as Deacon and a member of the church choir. He was also a member of The Order of the Knights of Pythias.
Visitation will be held at Rusagonis Baptist Church, 4 Whittaker Road, on Monday, March 14th, 2011 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. The memorial service will be held at the church on Tuesday, March 15th at 2 pm with Rev. Brent MacDonald officiating assisted by Rev. David Gray. In lieu of flowers, donations in Louis' memory can be made to the New Brunswick Heart and Stroke Foundation or the charity of the donor's choice.
