Helen Blanche Donkin age 90, of Fenwick, Cumberland Co. passed away Monday July 13, 2009 at the Cumberland Regional Health Care Center, Upper Nappan NS. Born on August 8, 1918 in Fox River, she was the daughter of the late James and Vivian (Allen) Graham.

Helen was active in the Fenwick United Church, a member of the Fenwick UCW and a Sunday school teacher. She taught school for many years; helpful to those in the community; volunteered for various charities; founder of the Teddy's for tragedy in Fenwick and the Fenwick correspondent for the citizen which often reflected her love of nature and birds. Helen was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She enjoyed family gatherings especially the Graham Family Picnic. Family photos were proudly displayed in her kitchen walls and she loved a good game of cards.

Helen was predeceased by her son Richard and is survived by her daughter-in-law Carolyn (George) Johnson and daughter Karen (Kelly) Donkin of Great Village; by her daughter Sandra Fowkes of Abbotsford BC and children Julieanne (Matthew) and great grandsons, Oliver and Henry (Trevithick) San Francisco, Jonathan Blenkhorn of Taiwan and James (Kylie) Blenkhorn of Vancouver; by her son Donald (Pat) Donkin of Upper Nappan and daughter Raya (John) Donkin and step grandson John M. Terris of Amherst; Step daughter Colette (Eric) and step granddaughters Jessica and Brooke Wilson of Nappan; stepson Jay (Sonya) Bishop of Amherst NS; and by her son Philip (Rose) Donkin and daughter Courtney Donkin; and son Michael (Renee) of Fenwick, NS. Helen is survived by her sister Jean (Bill) Thorpe of Dartmouth NS, brothers Bob (Chris) Graham of Vancouver Island, BC, and Jack (Naomi) Graham of Parrsboro NS and by several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Ralph, as well as here sisters Ruth, Eleanor, Rae and brothers Harleigh and Charles. Helen was respected by many throughout the Fenwick and surrounding areas of Nova Scotia. She will be dearly missed.

Arrangements are under the care of Campbell's Funeral Home, 98 Church St., Amherst (667-9906) from where visitation will be held on Friday, July 17, 2009 from 2:00 - 4:00 and 7:00 - 9:00 pm. Funeral Service will take place on Saturday at 2:00 pm from Campbell's Chapel with Rev Marion Lloy officiating. Interment will follow in the Amherst Cemetery. As an expression of Sympathy, contributions can be made to Fenwick United Church or Canadian Cancer Society.
