Earl Smith

Earl Thomas (Smokey) Smith of Passekeag, husband of Vera (Ryan) Smith occurred March 11th, 2011 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. He was born at Saint John, NB, son of the late Joseph and Eleanor (Patchell) Smith. Earl was a member of Local 3 Marine Workers Federation and worked at Saint John Ship Building for over 25 years, retiring in 1997. He is survived by his wife Vera; three daughters, Deborah Eastwood (Thomas) of Willow Grove, Eleanor Saunders (Charles) of Quispamsis and Veralynn Cooper of Moncton; three sons, Joseph of Moncton, Earl T. (Theresa) of CFB Petawawa and William M. (Susan) of Quispamsis; three sisters, Marion Clark of Michigan, Ruth VanWeston and Doreen Gillett both of Saint John; 15 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Earl was predeceased by sister, Hazel and brothers, Donald, Howard and Joseph.
Resting at Reid’s Funeral Home (506-832-5541) 1063 Main Street, Hampton, with visitation Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. The funeral will be held Wednesday 1:00 pm, at Reid’s Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Mary Wanamaker officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Canadian Cancer Society, Children’s Wish Foundation or to a charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family.
