It is with deep sadness that we, the family, announce the passing of Marie Debison on Friday, July 17, 2009, at the Glace Bay Health Care Facility.
Born in Glace Bay, she was a daughter of the late James Leo and Christine (Briand) Gracie.
She was a member of Holy Cross Church, Glace Bay. Marie resided at Seaview Manor, South Street, Glace Bay for the past two years where she made friends with staff and residents; and, she loved music and dancing. Prior to entering the Manor she resided at Newton Street and previously Lower McLean Street, and many knew her as a longtime resident of Murphy Street, Glace Bay.
For many years Marie worked at McFadgen’s Bakery in Glace Bay along with Phalen’s Bakery and MacKeigan’s Bakery. In her earlier years she worked at the Russell Theatre in Glace Bay.
She is survived by her son, Wayne and his wife Wendy, Glace Bay; two granddaughters, Anne-Marie, Truro, and Kara, Glace Bay; great-grandson, Connor, Truro, N.S.; many nieces and nephews; her sisters, Theresa (Jim) Allison and Marg Budden; and brother, John Gracie (J.J), all of Glace Bay.
She was predeceased by her husband, Clarence in 2000, her son, Clarence Jr. in 2007, by brothers, Leo, James, Robert, Francis and Tommy, sisters, Florence ‘Sis’ Currie and Alice MacGillivary, and Rosie in infancy.
Visitation today (Monday), 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at Curry’s Funeral Home, 775 Main St., Glace Bay. Funeral Mass will be Tuesday 10 a.m. in Holy Cross Church with Fr. Bill Rankin officiating. Burial in Forest Haven Memorial Gardens.
