Celina Maude Courage, 89, Hamilton Road, Pictou County, formerly of Sydney, passed away peacefully Tuesday, March 15, 2011, surrounded by her loving family.
Born in North Sydney, Oct. 16, 1921, she was the daughter of the late Harold H. and Elizabeth (McCarthy) Bennett.
Celina was a member of St. Theresa’s parish. An avid skater and yoga practitioner who had a loving interest in people and helping those who were often challenged by what life had in store for them. Celina will always be remembered for her devotion and love of her family, especially her late husband, John.
Surviving are her daughters, Rosalie (Richard Crouse) Courage of Hubbards, N.S., Pamela (Kenneth) Gardner, Kingston, N.S.; two sons, John (Amanda) Courage, Burlington, Ont., and Paul (Karin) Courage, Hubley, N.S. Celina is also survived by four grandchildren, Clark, Sheri, Brea and Adam; two great-grandchildren, Evelyn and Emily; as well as many nieces and nephews. Celina is also survived by her sister, Rose MacDonald.
She was predeceased by her husband, John Courage and brothers, Stephen, Austin, sisters, Mary Ann and Hilda.
Special thanks to Norma and Joseph MacDougall and family who provided loving and compassionate care for our mother in the last years of her life.
The family is also very grateful to the nurses and staff of the Aberdeen Hospital Palliative Care wing.
Visitation for the late Celina Courage will be Friday, March 18, 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at T.W. Curry Parkview Chapel, Sydney, N.S. Funeral at St. Theresa’s Church, Saturday, March 19 at 11 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, donations my be made to the Aberdeen Hospital Palliative Care Unit. 835 East River Rd., New Glasgow, N.S., B2H 3S6.
