Date de décès : 17 mars 2011
It is with sadness that we announce the passing of our father, brother, uncle and friend, Harold ‘Harley’ Vincent Boutilier, age 65, a resident of Mapleview Drive, North Sydney, on Thursday, March 17, 2011, at the Northside General Hospital, surrounded by his three sons and loving family.
Born in North Sydney, he was a son of the late Herbert and Elizabeth ‘Lizzie’ (McCormick) Boutilier.
Much of Harley’s younger years were spent involved in sports like baseball and hockey with Marion Bridge Loggers and the Junior Millionaires. His boys will cherish their memories of these sports their dad taught them as well as fishing and playing chess.
Harley’s many travels took him to many places which he spoke of often. He will always be remembered for his quick wit and humour.
He will be sadly missed by his three sons, Daniel (Michelle), Saint John , N.B., Mark (Josephine), Bedford, Adam (Danielle), Main-a-Dieu, and their mother, Betty Boutilier, Marion Bridge; sisters, Catherine Tobin, North Sydney, Mary Hopkins, Toronto, Regina ‘Gonnie’ Harrietha, Point Aconi; brothers, Cecil Boutilier, Sydney Mines, Freddy (Bev) Boutilier, Toronto; and by many nieces and nephews.
Harley was predeceased by brothers, William and John Boutilier and sister, Barbara Boutilier.
Special thanks to County Homemakers and the VON who visited Harley so often these last few weeks. The boys would also like to thank Sandra and Kevin for their loving and compassionate care of Harley. The family is also very grateful to the nurses and staff of the Northside General palliative care unit and to both Dr. Bill MacDonald and Dr. Peter Poulos.
No visitation by request and in honouring Harley’s wishes cremation has taken place. A funeral mass will be celebrated 10 a.m., Saturday at St. Joseph Church, North Sydney, with Rev. Jake Andrea officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Hospice Palliative Care of Cape Breton.
Funeral arrangements are entrusted to W.J. Dooley Funeral Home, 107 Pleasant St., North Sydney.
