With heavy hearts we announce the passing of Michael James ‘Brother’ MacLean on March 14, 2011, after a two-year battle with cancer at the An Cala Unit of the Cape Breton Regional Hospital.
Born in Reserve Mines, Feb. 8 1954, he resided at Barra Glen Road, Iona, since 1988. He was the son of the late Michael and Marie (MacNeil) MacLean.
He is survived by his loving wife, Norma MacLean; his loving children, Wanda (Robert) Dominion, April and Jorden, at home, Pauline, Calgary, Margaret (Eddy), Glace Bay, Bernard, Sydney, Steven (Kim), New Waterford, Chris (Melissa) Edmonton, Tiffiny (Steven), Quebec, and Bradly, Reserve Mines. He will be missed by his grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; brothers, John (Cathy) George (Mary), David (Angela) Keith and Cecil; sisters, Louise (Bernie) Mary (Tommy), Debbie (Jamie), Barbara and Nadine.; brother-in-law, Joe McNamara and sister-in-law, Sue MacLean.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by a brother, Roderick and sister, Elizabeth.
Funeral mass will be celebrated in St. Columba Parish Church on Saturday, March 19 at 2 p.m. with Fr. Paul Abbass officiating. Reception to follow at St. Columba Parish Hall.
The family would like to thank Dr. Chow, Dr. Ritter and all the staff of The Cancer and An Cala Unit of the Cape Breton Regional Hospital.
