
Harold Nightingale
Following a courageous battle with cancer, Harold Douglas Nightingale, of St. George , NB, passed away with loving family by his side, at the Charlotte County Hospital, St. Stephen on March 14, 2011. Born January 20, 1934 in Newcastle Bridge, NB, he was the son of Earl and Jane (Graves) Nightingale. Harold is survived by his wife Ellen (Bradford) Nightingale, children Wayne (Binnah), Lorrie, Marc (Betty), Grant, Scott, Linda, and Sean. Sisters Ruby Bonnell, and Brenda (Willie) Despres, step children Debra Ross, Rod and Hal Bradford. Several grandchildren, a great grandson, nieces, and nephews. Following ten years in the Canadian Navy, Harold lived and worked in the Saint John area as an industrial mechanic / millwright, retiring as an employee of NB Power at the Point Lepreau nuclear power station. He enjoyed flying as a private pilot, and was very active as a prominent member of the regional country and western music community, as a performer, recording artist and producer.
In accordance with Harold's wishes, his remains have been donated to the Dalhousie Medical School. In lieu of a funeral, a memorial celebration is planned for the Stella Maris Hall in Blacks Harbour, April 2 at 2 pm. Harold's family would like to honour his memory through his love of music, therefore any friends who wish to bring along a musical instrument are invited to do so.
