
Evelyn Atkinson
Evelyn Atkinson, 86, of Golden Years Estates, Moncton, with her loving family at her side, passed away peacefully at The Moncton Hospital on Friday March 18, 2011. Born in Moncton, she was the daughter of the late George and Muriel (Collier) Proctor. Evelyn had a deep faith and loved her Lord, her family and her friends. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Evelyn was a former nurse and was employed for many years at The Moncton Hospital. She loved to travel, especially with her nursing classmates and spent many winters in Florida and loved the sun, the warmth and the water. Evelyn was a member of Highfield Baptist Church and was active in the life of the church in past years. Prior to Highfield Baptist Church, she was an active member of Allison Church, was a Dominion Life Member of the Women’s Missionary Society and was active with Allison Women’s Institute. She took a keen interest in the issues of Alzheimer’s and was past president of the Moncton Chapter. Evelyn will be sadly missed by her children, Jim (Judith), Brenda O’Blenis (Allan), Rev. Dr. Terry (Brenda) and Ron; five grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Raymond Atkinson and her second husband, Rev. James Tetley; sister, Lillian Cummins and her brother, George Proctor Jr.
Visitation at Ferguson Knowles Funeral Home, 1657 Mountain Road, Moncton (858-1995) on Friday March 25, 2011, from 12 noon until 3:00 pm, followed by the Funeral Service at 3:30 pm, Rev. Jonathan Steeper officiating. Interment, Fair Haven Memorial Gardens. In Evelyn’s memory, donations to Crandall University, as seven family members, including Evelyn, attended Crandall University (formerly Atlantic Baptist University and Atlantic Baptist College) or memorial of choice.
