It is with much sadness and broken hearts that we announce the sudden passing of our dad, grandfather and friend, Frank Young. He passed away Friday at his home in Halifax.
Frank was born in Sydney Mines, Oct. 23, 1941. He was the son of the late Archibald and Magdeline (Ronayne) Young. He most recently resided in Halifax close to his family for the past four years.
Frank was employed for many years with the Sydney Mines Bargain Store, and later started Frank’s Carpentry. Second to his family, his loves were music and dancing.
Frank is survived by his three children, ‘the lights of his life’, son, Craig (Juanita); daughter, Cynthia (Ron) McKenzie, both of Upper Tantallon; daughter, Angela (Brad) Murphy, Hammonds Plains; two cherished grandsons, Ethan Young and Aedan McKenzie. He is also survived by former wife and friend, Pauline Carey, Georges River; sister, Magdeline Anthony; brothers, Joe , Francis and Daniel Leo, all of Sydney Mines, and Alexander, Sydney; special cousin, Donnie (Marg) Young, Sydney Mines.
Besides his parents, Frank was predeceased by his twin brother, Winston, brothers, Archie and Charlie, sister, Anna Theresa in infancy, and nephews, Wayne and Donnie Young.
Visitation for Frank Young will be held Tuesday, March 22 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. in J.M. Jobes Funeral Home, 635 Main St., Sydney Mines. A celebration of his life will be held Wednesday at 10 a.m. at St. Pius X Church, Sydney Mines, with Fr. Thomas John officiating. A reception will follow in the church hall.
