Wood Point, N.B. - The death of Wayne Wheaton of Wood Point, N.B., occurred at the Dr. Georges L. Dumont Hospital in Moncton, N.B. on July 13, 2009. Born in Middle Sackville, N.B., on July 2, 1939, Wayne was the son of the late Sadie (Gould) Wheaton and the late Hollis Wheaton. Wayne's death followed many years of failing health. His deep faith, enduring courage, strength and determination were an inspiration and will be remembered by all who knew him. Wayne served in the Canadian Armed Forces (Air Force) for 23 years until declining health made it impossible for him to continue. He held several postings in Canada and served with UN Peacekeeping troops in Elarish, Egypt. He retired at the rank of Sargeant. Wayne is survived by his wife of 24 years, Linda (King/Rhodes) Wheaton, his special son, Michael Rhodes, both of Wood Point, N.B.; daughters, Sharon McLeod and Sheila (Bo) Brajkovich, both of Victoria, B.C., four grandchildren, Justin and Ashley Brajkovic and Tanya and Kari McLeod, Victoria, B.C.; two sisters, Simonne Lerette, Sackville, N.B. and Deborah
(Terrence) Wheaton, Midgic, N.B.; his godparents and special Aunt and Uncle, Doreen (Gould) and Aymer Burtch, Amherstview, Ontario; his mother-in-law, Norma King, Wood Point, N.B; sister-in-law, Marlene (Wilbur) Read and brother-inÂlaw, Brian King, both of Wood Point N.B.; sister-in-law, Mary King, Dorchester, N.B.; nieces and nephews; and several precious great nieces and nephews. Beside his parents, Wayne was predeceased by his brother, Dick (2008), father-in-law, Adrian King (2007) and brothers-in-law, Austin King (2009) and Pete Lerette (1983). Arrangements are entrusted to Campbell¹s Funeral Home, 89 Bridge Street, Sackville, N.B. (364-8188). There was no visitation. Wayne's funeral service was held on Thursday, July 16 at 6:30 p.m. from Campbell¹s Funeral Home, with Pastor Ryan Skaling officiating. Burial in the Sackville Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in Wayne¹s memory may be made to the Wood Point Baptist Church, the Dr. Georges L.
