Fort Fairfield - Francis Leroy “Roy” Russell Sr., 92, husband of the late Doris (Lewis) Russell, passed away peacefully Sunday morning, March 20, 2011, at a Caribou Health Care Facility after a brief illness. He was born Dec. 31, 1918 in Fort Fairfield the son of the late Charles E. and Mary Jane (Reid) Russell. In addition to his parents Roy was predeceased by his wife Doris, three brothers Reid, Daniel, and Peter Russell; one sister Anna Russell Greenlaw. He is survived by five sons, Daniel G.Russell, Richard L. Russell of Fredericton, New Brunswick, Francis L. Russell Jr., Charles S. Russell and Paul M. Russell; one daughter Ruth A. McCue; one sister, Katherine Russell Mehlenbacher; two sisters-in-law, Irene Russell and Pauline Lewis of Fredericton, NB; eleven grandchildren including Kadelyn Russell Roscoe of Woodstock, Bridgette Russell McKnight and Brendan J. Russell of Fredericton, seven great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call Tuesday, March 22, 2011, from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m (Eastern Time) at the Giberson-Dorsey Funeral Home, 144 Main Street, Fort Fairfield, where a vigil service will be conducted at 7:30 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday, March 23, 2011 at 11:00 a.m (Eastern Time) at the St. Denis Catholic Church, 147 Main Street, Fort Fairfield with the Rev. Raymond Morency as celebrant. A time of continued fellowship with refreshments will be held at the Knights of Columbus Hall, Council Number 1753, 260 Main Street, Fort Fairfield, immediately after the funeral Mass.
