Marie MacLellan
WITH APPRECIATION AND THANKS
We, the family of the late Marie MacLellan (née MacKenzie) of Sydney and Christmas Island, wish to extend a heartfelt thank you to those who shared in the recent loss of our beloved mother.
From the first phone calls and emails, to online condolences, Mass offerings, sympathy cards, floral arrangements, gifts of food, charitable donations, and many visits from dear friends, relatives and loved ones; your thoughtfulness helped to ease our grief and focus on the celebration of the life of a kind and gentle soul. We appreciate your kindness and sharing your respect and fond memories of our Mother.
Funeral Mass at Sacred Heart Parish on March 9th was celebrated by Fr Anthony O’Connor, assisted by Fr Joe MacNeil, Fr Francis Cameron and Fr Albert Maroun, following visitations at Chant’s Funeral Home. We wish to thank the priests, the Honour Guard from St. Joseph’s Hospital, the pallbearers, organist Shauna Doolen and the choir. Also thanks to readers, Joan MacDonald and Richard Fogarty. The Mass reflected aspects of Mom’s deep spirituality and the personal friendships and connections she enjoyed with all those present. Visitation was later held at St. Barra’s Church, Christmas Island. To Fr Joe, your prayers and inspiring words during the service and burial gave us strength. Also, thanks to Jean MacKenzie for reading and Dolena MacKinnon for the tea service. To Sandy MacNeil and John Joe MacKenzie, your reassurance to have her rest in the family burial plot, regardless of the weather, was comforting. Following her stay at the C.B. Regional Hospital, where her team of fellow nurses and staff offered commendable service, Mom was blessed with the strength and endurance to return home. During the past two years, she received dedicated homecare from the City Homemakers Service, the C.B. County Homemakers Society and the VON. Mom is at home with God and her loved ones in heaven. Yet she is alive in the waves that splash on the Bras d’Or – the winds that blow – the stars that shine at night and the warm summer sun. She delighted in the glow of the crisp new moon that celebrated every new month. Let it be our reminder that her light continues to shine upon us. Thank You for your Prayers, Love and Strength,
The MacLellan Family
