VAN DER KLOET, Grietje “Greet” - Went to be with her Lord and Saviour on Monday, March 21, 2011, in Blomidon Court, Greenwich. She was born in Tzum, Friesland, The Netherlands in 1918 and immigrated to Ontario, Canada with her family in 1952. There she was very involved with her church and looked after arrangements for many weddings, funerals and special functions as well as assisting families in need. In 1965 she, with her family moved to Nova Scotia. There she sang in the church choir and looked after her family and grandchildren. She is survived by Gerben, her husband of 70 years, two sons, Harry (Allie), Burlington, Ontario; John (Edith), Greenwich; 10 grandchildren, Patricia (Rob), Geoff (Lisa), Sonja, Heather (Mike), Melanie (Mark), Jessica (Jeff), Jackie (Allan), Pauline (Harold), Greg (Dayna) and Doug (Jennifer); 22 great? grandchildren; sister, Saakje Brouwer, The Netherlands; brother, Tjipke (Annie), Australia. She was predeceased by grandson, Terrence; daughter-in-law, Margaret; parents, Jan and Akke van der Plaats; sisters, Uilkje, Ina, Maaike and a brother, Tjipke, in infancy, all of Friesland, the Netherlands; Hiltje, Australia. Visitation was held from 7-9 p.m. Thursday, March 24, 2011 in the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville. A graveside service for family and friends was held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, March 25, 2011 in the Lakeview Cemetery, Lakeville, Kings County, followed by a funeral service and reception at 3:00 p.m. in the Christian Reformed Church, Kentville, Pastor Harold Winter officiating. Donations in memory may be made to the Annapolis Valley Victorian Order of Nurses. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the White Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Kentville.
