BYRNE, Donna Irene - 58, of Kentville, passed away quietly, Saturday, February 26, 2011 in the Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville, with close family and friends at her bedside. Born in Digby, she was the daughter of the late Peter and Dorothy Byrne. She lived her early years in Deep Brook until graduation from Annapolis Royal Regional Academy. Donna graduated from Acadia University and lived the rest of her life in Kentville. Donna was known about Kentville as the Hat Lady and endeared herself to all who knew her. Her love of cats, reading and shopping was well-known. Her friends and colleagues at Hiltz & Seamone, the New Minas Water Commission and Scotia McLeod will truly miss her. She is survived by one brother, Brian (Sandy) Byrne; niece, Elizabeth (Joe) Belle and their children, Amanda and Vincent; nephews, Peter (Nathalie) Byrne and their daughter, Audrey; Jimmy Byrne; cousins, Lesley (Jim) Caravan; Nick Caravan, Dave and Mike Brennan; Julie (Steve) Doherty and their children, Paul and Matt; Patrick Byrne; special friends, Robin Hill and George Baker. Besides her parents she was predeceased by her uncle, Mike and aunt, Margaret Byrne and uncle, Tony and aunt, Norma Byrne. There will be no visitation, by request. A funeral service, followed by a reception, will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, April 2, 2011 in the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville, Archdeacon Lynn Uzans officiating. Burial will take place at 2:00 p.m. on the same day in the Forrest Hill Cemetery, Digby.
