Freda Hood

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our dear Mother, Freda Ellen Hood, wife of the late Doug Hood, of Stanley at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital, early Sunday Morning, March 27, 2011, after a very courageous battle with cancer. Freda was born, April 2, 1942 and was the daughter of the late Fred and Thelma (Hunter) Fowler. Freda is survived by her daughters Corry Ellen (Troy) Bourque of Marysville and Candace (John) MacDonald of Noonan and by her darling little granddaughter, Megan Bourque. Also survived by sisters Eva Fowler (Orville), Ethel Spencer (Terry), Helena Samsonoff (Nick); brothers Cal (Marg), Allan (Margaret), John (Gertie), Darrell (Pat), Owen (Debby), Jimmy (Glenna), Nelson (Julie), sister in laws Alice Hunter (Nelson), Jean Hood, Ethel Douglas, brother in law Darrell Hood (Joan), several nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to her parents, Freda was predeceased by her infant brother David, infant sister Patsy; sister, Gerry Ellery (Rod); nephew, Jeremy Fowler; brothers-in-laws, Vern Hood (Marie), John “Bun” Hood, Bill Hood and several aunts and uncles. Freda was employed with Johnstone's Pharmacy in Stanley most recently, but over the years had worked several jobs including Camp Gagetown, CIBC, and Sparks Grocery. She was member of Hillcrest United Church, member of several Church committees, TOPS and NB Women’s Institute. Freda was a past Village Councilor and also the first woman councilor for the village of Stanley. She certainly loved life and will be missed by all who knew her.
Visitation will be at York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive, Fredericton, NB on Monday, March 28, 2011 from 7 to 9 pm and Tuesday, March 29, 2011 from 2 to 4 pm and 7 to 9 pm. A Funeral service will be held from the Hillcrest United Church, Stanley, NB on Wednesday, March 30, 2011 at 2 pm with Pastor Wally Ellis and Rev. Murray MacFarlane officiating. Pallbearers for the service will be Al Roberston, Chris Hood, and brothers, Owen, Jimmy, Darrell, and Nelson. Honorary pallbearers will be the staff of Johnstone's Pharmacy and good friends Doris Sellick and Jane Roberston. For those who wish, donations may be made to the Hillcrest United Church Cemetery or to the charity of the donor’s choice. Personal condolences may be offered though www.yorkfh.com
