ALBERT EDWARD "ED" BARRY

ALBERT EDWARD "ED" BARRY

Lieu de naissance : Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada

Lieu de décès : Kamloops, Colombie Britannique, Canada
Date de décès : 25 mars 2011

Albert Edward Barry (Ed) died peacefully on March 25, 2011 less than a month before his 84th birthday.

Ed was born and raised in Winnipeg, and lived in Vancouver and Williams Lake before settling in Kamloops with his family in 1967. Ed worked for Imperial Oil and retired after 35 years with the company. As a man with a young family he spent many summers travelling to swim meets, camping, and coaching minor football. His family always came first.

Ed was an avid athlete throughout his life. He swam regularly at Westsyde Pool, and counted his winters in ski days spent at Tod Mountain, now Sun Peaks. He loved football, whether it was playing as a founding member of the B.C. Lions, or watching Monday Night Football with friends and family and of course, Ed could always be seen on Westsyde Road, clocking thousands of kilometers on his bike.

Ed was also a great artist. He began painting "back when I was a little kid in Winnipeg". He specialized in water colors, and often gave his beautiful landscapes and still-life paintings as gifts. Besides painting, Ed was a photographer and a member of the Kamloops Camera Club for many years. Ed always had his camera at the ready at family events and his photo collages and family photo albums (always organized chronologically) were in high demand for milestone birthdays and anniversaries.

"Pops" is predeceased by Bobbie, his first wife, and will be lovingly remembered by his children Mary-Jo (Marty), Linda (Rick), Tim (Diane), Tom (Tami) and Todd (Lorrie); and grandchildren Amanda, Matthew, Shaina, Danica, Axel, Nicola, Luke, MacKenzie, Olivia, Andrew, Rachel and Scott; and by his wife Lucie, her children Sean (Heather) and Colleen (Dave), and her grandchildren Gregory, Samantha, Victoria, Nicholas and Derrick.

Services will be held at St. John Vianney Catholic Church, 2826 Bank Rd., Kamloops, BC. Prayers on Wednesday, March 30th, 2011 at 7:00 p.m., and Funeral Mass on Thursday, March 31st, 2011 at 10:00 a.m.

Flowers gratefully declined (Lucie's allergies), however donations to the Royal Inland Hospital Foundation, Cancer Services Fund would be greatly appreciated.

Service arrangements are entrusted to Schoening Funeral Service, Telephone 250-374-1454.
