The death occurred peacefully and surrounded by his family at the Prince County Hospital, Summerside, on Friday, July 24, 2009, of Alfred Joseph Doucette of Summerside, and formerly of St. Louis, P.E.I., aged 72 years. Alfred was born on May 28, 1937, in St. Louis, P.E.I., to his late parents, Bazil and Winnifred (nee Poirier) Doucette. Beloved husband of Irene (nee Gaudet) Doucette and loving father of Rodney (Sheila) of Miscouche, Darryl (Louise) of Borden-Carleton, Glenna (Darrell) Richards of Summerside, and Alan Gaudet (stepson) of Summerside. Also lovingly remembered by his special granddaughter, Sabrina Doucette, nine grandchildren, two stepgrandchildren, four stepgreat grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Survived by his brother and sisters, Lorriane (Edlow) Albert of Alberton, Wanda Doucette, Austin Doucette and Velda (Georgie) Gallant all of St. Louis, Marie (Paul) Birtley of Orangeville, Ont., and Yvonne (Joey) Harper of Anglo Tignish. Besides his parents, Alfred was predeceased by his sisters, Clara Mae in infancy and Violet. Resting at East Prince Funeral Home, 245 Pope Rd., Summerside, until Monday July 27, 2009, then to St. Paul’s Church, Summerside, for funeral mass at 10:30 a.m. Memorial donations in Alfred’s memory to the C.O.P.D., P.E.I. Lung Association would be greatly appreciated. Visiting hours on Sunday, 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Following cremation, interment to take place in the church cemetery on Tuesday July 28, at 11 a.m..
