Flynn, Mary Ella — 82, of Newport Station, Hants County, passed away on Monday, March 14, 2011, in the Hants Community Hospital, Windsor. Born on October 1, 1928, in Three Mile Plains, Nova Scotia, she was a daughter of the late William and Evelyn (Cashman) Parker. Mary was formerly employed at the Payzant Memorial Hospital and the Hants Community Hospital, where she cooked for many years. In later years she had also worked at Gordon`s Grill in Garlands Crossing. Mary was an avid bowler and also loved to play bingo. She will be sadly missed by all who knew her. Mary is survived by her daughter Brenda (Gary Parker), Berwick; son Stephen (Heather) Flynn, Ellershouse; seven grandchildren Peteena (Darren) Salsman, Katharine (Bobby) Eldridge, Beverly (Wade) Schofield, Theresa (Shaun) Eldridge, Joy (Jason) Sanford, Mark (Kendra) Flynn and Claudette Brown; 20 great-grandchildren and four great great-grandchildren; son-in-law Dave Brown, Burdett, A.B.; sister Lola “Dody” (Earl) Hines, Newport Station; and several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, Mary was predeceased by her husband of 59 years, Robie Lawrence Flynn (March 22/2007); daughter Sandra Jane Brown (Feb. 23/2007); sisters Kaye Millett, Viola Fitzgerald and Pauline O’Leary; and brother Aubrey Parker. Visitations were 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Wednesday, March 16, in Lindsay's Windsor Funeral Home, 194 King Street, Windsor. Funeral service was at 2 p.m. Thursday, March 17, 2011, in Lindsay’s Windsor Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Wendy Kean officiated. A reception followed in the Lindsay Family Reception Centre, 184 King Street. Interment was held in the Ste. Croix Cemetery, St. Croix. Donations in memory of Mary were requested to be made to the Alzheimers Society of Nova Scotia, the Ste. Croix United Church or to a charity of one’s choice.
