John Alex MacNeil, 79, formerly of Shenacadie, passed away Sunday, March 27, 2011, in Toronto.
Born in Shenacadie in 1931, he was the son of the late Allan and Mary Elizabeth (MacSween) MacNeil.
John Alex was employed as a labourer with the City of Toronto.
He will be sadly missed by a family of seven sisters, Veronica (Mike Yurczysyn), Annie (Neil Gillis), Kay (Ron MacDonald), all of Sydney, Agnes Payne, Vancouver Island, Liz Zalys, Saskatoon, Martha Rodall, Toronto, Rita (Fred Shostak), Calgary; nieces, nephews and friends.
John Alex was predeceased by a sister, Sadie MacNeil; infant sister, Rita and brothers, Joe MacNeil, Stephen MacNeil and infant brother, Wallace.
Visitation will take place at Sydney Memorial Chapel on Thursday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A funeral mass will be held at St. Barra Church, Christmas Island on Friday at 11 a.m., with Rev. Paul Abbass officiating. Interment in the parish cemetery.
Memorials may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
