Janet “Jean” A. Newton, 92, of Moncton, with her loving family by her side, passed away peacefully at her residence on Friday morning, April 1, 2011. Born in Centre Napan, she was the daughter of the late Francis and Reta (MacDonald) Jardine. Jean was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and was a member of St. John’s United Church. She enjoyed reading, knitting, crocheting, and watching her favorite baseball team, the Toronto Blue Jays. Jean took great pleasure in receiving visitors at her home and spending precious time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Jean will be sadly missed by her children, Marlene O’Brien, Moncton; son, Robert (Kathryn), Ottawa, ON; precious grandchildren, Michael Leger (Tanya), Derek and Gregory Newton; great grandchildren, Chris and Samantha; several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, John F. Newton (October 14, 1999); one sister, Ruby MacKnight and her brother, Eldon Jardine.
No visitation by personal request. Funeral Service at Ferguson Knowles Funeral Home Chapel, 1657 Mountain Road, Moncton (858-1995) Monday April 4, 2011, 1:30 pm, Rev. Aaron Billard officiating. Reception in the Funeral Home Reception Centre following the service. Interment, Elmwood Cemetery.
