Ronald Carman Harding passed away peacefully on April 1st, 2011 at the Ridgewood Veteran’s Center with family at his side. Born October of 1922 in Maugerville, NB to the late John S. and Gladys (Carman) Harding. Ronald is survived by his daughters Judy Olsen and Cathy Gaudette; grand-daughters Heather Olsen and Tiffany Gaudette; grandsons Douglas Olsen, John Olsen (Lori) and Brenda (Whitney) Olsen; great grand-daughter Allison Olsen; great-grandsons Patrick, Matthew, Zachary, Erik, Jalen, Corey, Kurtis and Adam; his sister Dorothy (nee Harding) Powers and chosen sister Rosemarie Schriver, as well as several nieces and nephews. In addition, he is also survived by his step-daughters Beverley and Myrna; step-son Frank; step-grandchildren, step-great-grandchildren and his friend Kaye Doucet. Besides his parents, Ron was predeceased by his wife Elinor (Parlee) Harding; former wife Muriel (Kennie) Harding; beloved sisters Alberta (nee Harding) Bramble and baby sister Letitia Harding; grandson Darryl Olsen and step-son William. Ron was a lifetime member of the Royal Canadian Legion #53. He was an active member for many years and was a past president of #53. Ron played an instrumental part in the establishment of the Jervis Bay-Ross Memorial Park. Ron was in the asphalt business and worked various projects in our region including the Harbour Bridge Road Construction as well as various projects in the northern part of the province. He was an active member of All Saints Anglican Church until most recent years.
Resting at the Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road (646-2424) with visitation on Monday, April 4th from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. with a tribute to a Veteran service beginning at 7:00 p.m. Celebration of life will be held from the Fundy Funeral Home Chapel on Tuesday, April 5th 2011 at 1:00 p.m. Interment to follow at Ocean View Memorial Gardens.
