It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Jean Bell on Wednesday, July 22, 2009. Jean was predeceased by her beloved husband Bruce in 2002. Jean is survived by her sister-in-law, Betty Anderson of Lakefield, Ontario and her brother-in-law, Bill Porter of Calgary. She was predeceased by her parents Nickola and Mary (Sarchuk) Ficych, sister Olga Wingerchuk, Vivian Suchorab, Sally Fisich, Anne Pylypchuk, Catherine Fisich, Pauline Porter, brothers William Fisich, Morris Fisich and brothers-in-law Walter Wingerchuk, Peter Suchorab, Bob Pylypchuk and Jim Anderson. She leaves behind many nieces and nephews.
Jean grew-up in the Domremy District of Saskatchewan. After moving to Toronto in the early 1950’s, where she met and married Bruce, Jean spent the next 30+ years employed at Shell Canada. In 1991, Jean and Bruce relocated to Saskatoon. More recently, she took up residence in Regina to be closer to her niece, Debbie (Bob) Peever. Jean was an avid gardener and spent many happy hours tending to her gardens needs. She also loved to golf and was a member of the Saskatoon Golf and Country Club. Jean always enjoyed the visits of family and welcomed them at any time. She will be greatly missed. The family would like to thank the Palliative Care Team at the Pasqua Hospital and the Regina Wascana Grace Hospice caregivers for their compassionate care of Jean. In addition, the family is grateful to the nursing and personal care staff of Victoria Park Personal Care Home for their kindness and exceptional help throughtout Jean’s residency and illness. Our appreciation is also extended to Jean’s special friend, Harvie Webster for making her last few months so meaningful and fun.
