It is with great sadness that we, the family of Georgina Annie Hefferon, announce her peaceful passing on Monday, July 27, 2009 at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney.
Born in Sydney on August 25, 1925, Georgina was the daughter of the late Margaret Agnes MacDougall.
She was an adherent of Bethel Presbyterian Church and was employed by Dorothy’s Dairy for many years until her retirement.
She will be deeply missed by her daughter and best friend, Melba Hefferon, Sydney; her daughter-in-law, Shirley Hefferon, Indian Brook; her grandson, Darren Hefferon, Toronto; one great-grandson, Nicholas Wayne Hefferon, Kansas and very special nieces and nephews.
Besides her husband of 63 years, John Hefferon, she was predeceased by one son, Rev. Byron Hefferon; grandson, Kenneth Wayne Hefferon and granddaughter, Agnes Marie Hefferon. She was also predeceased by her sister, Josephine Campbell and half-sister, Margaret Peters.
Visitation will take place at Sydney Memorial Chapel, Thursday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m.. Funeral services will be held Friday, July 31, 2009 at 1 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Robert Lyle officiating. Interment in Hardwood Hill Cemetery.
Donations in mom’s memory may be made to Palliative Care or a charity of one’s choice.
