Ella Smith
Ella Tina Smith, 89, of Salisbury, NB passed away peacefully at the Moncton City Hospital on April 2, 2011 after a brief illness. Born in River Glade, NB, on October 20, 1921, she was a daughter of the late William and Tina (Harrison) Smith. She was the beloved wife of 50 years of the late Ross Leander Smith, and a member of The Glades Baptist Church. Ella loved working in her flower gardens, listening to country music, and spending time with her family, especially all of her grandchildren. Ella will forever be remembered by her four sons: Henry of Petitcodiac; Bruice (Linda) of River Glade; Robert of Moncton; and Michael (Sharon) of Salisbury; five daughters: Thelma (Bob) Plume of Salisbury; Betty (Jack) Steeves of Albert Mines; Lilia (Al) Bruneau of Moncton; Carol (Bill) Woodman and Susan (Elton) MacLeod, all of Petitcodiac; a brother, Oran Smith of River Glade; two sisters: Peechy (Milton) Marr of Cornhill, and Jean Black of River Glade; 11 grandchildren: Debbie, Donna, Danny, Dale, Kathy, Thomas, Bobbie-Jo, Sherry, William, Roseanna, and Melanie; 16 great-grandchildren: Sherry, Dale Jr., Melanie, Nichole, Ryan, Michael, Kristal, Stephanie, Amy, Patrick, Matthew, Rebecca, Ryan, Jenna, Savannah, and Dawson; eight great-great-grandchildren: Isaiah, Meagan, Kayla, Samantha, Morgan, Owen, Rylee, and Teagan; and several nieces and nephews. Her husband, Ross Leander Smith; infant daughter, Joan Ella Smith; and adult son, Philip Allen Smith, died previously. The family would like to give special thanks to the caring staff at both the W. LeBlanc Special Care Home, and the Moncton City Hospital. If desired, donations in memory of Ella Smith may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, or to The Glades Baptist Church.
Family and friends may pay their respects on Monday, April 4, 2011 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm; the funeral service will be held on Tuesday, April 5, 2011 at 2:00 pm with Pastor David Evans and Pastor Dennis Smith officiating, all in Armstrong’s Funeral Home, Petitcodiac.
