It is with great sadness that we, the family of Maurice Thomas announce the peaceful passing of our father, husband, grandfather and dear friend, on Tuesday, July 28, 2009, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Reserve Mines, he was a son of the late Robert and Mariette (Caume) Thomas. He was also predeceased by his wife Louise.
Maurice is survived by his daughter, Debbie Thomas, with whom he resided; sons, Gary (Gail Sherwood), Calgary, Maurice Jr. (Mary), Glace Bay, Kevin (Starlette), New Waterford; brothers, Robert (June), Dartmouth, Herbert (Loyola), Reserve Mines, Raymond (Katie), Sydney, Douglas (Audrey), Reserve Mines; grandchildren, Tara and Justin Thomas; brothers-in-law, Dennis (Marie) Kelly and David (Diane) Peterson; sisters-in-law, Mary Shibinette and Barbara (Eldon) Clements; aunt Mary Donovan; and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation Thursday 2-4 and 7-9pm in Curry’s Funeral Home, 775 Main St., Glace Bay. Funeral Mass of Resurrection will be celebrated 11 a.m. Friday in St. Joseph’s Church, Rev. Bill Rankin officiating.
Donations in Maurice’ memory may be made to the Cape Breton Cancer Centre or Palliative Care.
