Gerard Melanson
1920 - 2011 - Gerard Melanson, 90, of Veteran’s Health Center, Moncton, NB and formerly of Melanson Rd., Dieppe, NB, passed away on Saturday, April 2nd, 2011, at his residence. Born in Melanson Sett., he was the son of the late William and the late Flore (née: Dorval) Melanson. After the war, Mr. Melanson worked as a male orderly at the TB hospital in Riverglade and later retired as a supervisor for Canada Post. He was a member of the Legion Branch #6, Moncton and St-Anselme parish. He is survived by four sons: Paul (Teresa), Arthur (Marie) and Roger (Dorine) all three of Moncton and Donald (Liz) of Edmonton, AB; several grandchildren and great grandchildren and one great great grandchild as well as many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife, Marie Nelida in 1998; one daughter, Yolande; one sister, Geneva and one brother, Fernand.
Visitation will be held from the Chartersville Funeral Home, 363 Amirault Street, Dieppe, NB (857-1901) on Monday from 7 to 9 pm and also on Tuesday from 10 am until time of departure. The legion will hold a prayer service on Monday at 8:45 pm. Funeral mass will be celebrated from Saint-Anselme Roman Catholic Church, Dieppe, NB on Tuesday, April 5th, 2011 at 11 am. Interment in Saint-Anselme parish Cemetery, Dieppe, NB. Donations to the Dr-Georges-L.-Dumont Hospital Foundation “Veteran’s Unit” would be appreciated by the family. www.chartersville.com
