It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of James Budge on Friday, April 1, 2011, at the Glace Bay Hospital.
Born in Glace Bay, he was the son of the late William and Mary (Moore) Budge.
In his early years, Jim was employed with Cape Breton Tramways Company Limited and later he enjoyed a long career with Sydney Steel Corporation, retiring after 40 years of service, in 1984. Jim was an avid fisherman who had a love for the ocean and spent many years in and around the water. He also loved gardening, but one of his greatest joys in life was his grandchildren and they will dearly miss him.
Jim is survived by his wife of 46 years, Rosalie (Detcheverry); sister, Margaret; four sons, Robert, Wesley, of Glace Bay, Douglas (Vanessa) of Prince George, B.C., James (Mona) of Cambridge, Ont.; and daughter, Marina (Maurice) of Dartmouth. Also surviving are grandchildren, Anna Tersa, Kimberly, Paige, Wesley and Dean and great-grandson, Van James.
Jim was predeceased by sisters, Helen, Etta and Josephine and brothers, William and George.
There will be no visitation. Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of Patten Funeral Home, 71 Union St., Glace Bay. A memorial service will be held Tuesday, April 5 at 2 p.m. in Patten Funeral Home Chapel.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Palliative Care Service, Cape Breton Health Care Complex, 1482 George St., Sydney, N.S., B1P 1P3.
