It is with sadness that we announce the passing of our dear mother, grandmother, sister and friend. Mary Noreen ‘Nonnie’, who passed away peacefully Saturday, April 2, 2011, at the An Cala unit of the Cape Breton Regional Hospital with her family by her side.
Born in Sydney, she was the daughter of the late Noreen MacAdam and William H. Myatt and stepfather Allan J. MacAdam.
Nonnie lived most of her life in Ben Eoin, where she resided with her husband Donnie and raised their seven children. She is survived by daughter, Anne Marie (Darren), with whom she resided; sons, Donnie (Sarah), Billy (Chris), Kevin (Corliss), Michael (Mary), Gregory (Cindy) and Allan. She will also be missed by her 13 grandchildren, Jamie, Carrie, Blair, Andrew, Laura Lee, Matthew, Kevin Jr., Adam, Jason, Kristal, Clayton, Jeffrey and Jillian; three step-grandchildren, Jamie, Amy and Ryan; and 10 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by brothers, Allan, Vernon, Frank; sisters, Mary, Patricia, Eileen; sister-in-law, Jean Polegatto; her former caregiver and daughter-in-law, Anne MacPhee and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband, Donnie in 1998, brother, Billy and infant daughter, Carol Anne.
Visitation for Nonnie MacPhee will take place at T.W. Curry Parkview Chapel, on Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral mass will be celebrated Wednesday, April 6 at 3 p.m. at St. Mary’s Church, East Bay, with Rev. Frank Abbass officiating. Interment in the parish cemetery.
Memorial donations may be made to An Cala Unit at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Diabetes Association or a charity of one’s choice.
