James Carmen Bacich, 69, of Sydney passed away peacefully at home Sunday, April 3, 2011, surrounded by his family.
Born in Whitney Pier, he was a son of the late Matthew and Annie (Giacomantonio) Bacich.
He was a member of Holy Redeemer parish and a fourth degree member of the Knights of Columbus. He was employed for many years with the Registry of Motor Vehicles in Sydney as well as Halifax and more recently spent many hours training and educating senior drivers. He was president of the NSGREA (Nova Scotia Government Retired Employees Association) and was also president of the Italian Cultural Association. Jimmy was also a member of the Board of Province House Credit Union.
He is survived by his loving partner, Delores Tortola; two daughters, Leanne Bacich (Matthew McFarlene) and Kelley (Mike) Stanley, both of Ontario; brothers, Donnie Bacich (Ellen Edwards) and Gary Bacich, both of Sydney; grandchildren, Jack and Rylan McFarlene, Emily, Clara, William and Katherine Stanley.
He was predeceased by sister, Marie Kyte.
Visitation for the late Mr. Bacich will be held 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Tuesday, April 5 in T. W. Curry Parkview Chapel. Funeral Mass will be celebrated 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 6 in Holy Redeemer Church, Rev. Errol MacDonald officiating. Interment in Resurrection Cemetery, Sydney Forks.
