It is with great sadness that the family of Ashley Carr announce his death at the Veterans Health Unit in Fredericton on Monday, April 4th, 2011 at the age of 96. Born in Geary on April 14th, 1914 he was the husband of the late Amanda (Smith) Carr. Ashley leaves behind his children, Judianne (Weldon) Carr of French Lake and Tereca (Steven) Landry of Waterville; daughter-in-law, Leslie Carr of Geary; grandchildren, Jonathan (Madeline) Carr, Lisa (Anthony) Smith, James Carr, Andrew (Victoria) Carr, Ryan (Sarah) Carr, Melissa (Jose) Montes and Joshua (Emilie) Landry; great-grandchildren, Colby, Jesse, Maggie, Bridget, Ashley, Max, Noah, Evan and Santiago and very good friend and neighbor, Ardith Kerr. Ashley was predeceased by his wife, Amanda; son, David; parents, David and Thessalania (Till) Carr; brothers, Preston, Alden and Stanley and sister, Belle. Ashley was a veteran of WWII, serving with the Carlton York Regiment and a member of The Royal Canadian Legion Branch # 93. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the kind staff at the Veterans Health Unit in Fredericton who took such good care of Ashley during his stay there.
Visitation will be held at Oromocto Funeral Home, 108 Winnebago St., on Tuesday, April 5th, 2011 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. The Royal Canadian Legion Branch # 93 will hold a tribute service at 7 pm. The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, April 6th at 2 pm at the Geary Pentecostal Church with Rev. Mark Noel officiating. Rev. Robert Foster will assist. Burial will be in the Preston Carr Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations in Ashley's memory can be made to the Geary Pentecostal Church Building Fund, the Geary, French Lake, Waterville Cemetery Fund or the Veterans Health Unit in Fredericton.
