Jens Larsen
With family and friends present, Jens Christian Larsen of New Denmark passed away peacefully at Hotel Dieu of Saint Joseph Hospital, Perth- Andover, N.B. on April 4, 2011. Born in New Denmark, November 26, 1917, he was the son of Hans and Signe (Madsen) Larsen of New Denmark. He is survived by his loving wife of sixty eight years, Gwendolyn Grace, daughter of Errold and Jessie (Dunster) Wilson of Grand Falls, N.B.; son, John (Beth Inman), Perth-Andover, N.B., brother in law Vaughan Wilson (Mary), Fort Erie, Ont. and many nieces and nephews. Jens is predeceased by his parents and three brothers, Philip, Kenneth, and Donald. Jens was an active member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, all his life; New Denmark Historical Society; 67 year member of Colebrooke Masonic Lodge; 60 year member (senior active) of Grand Falls Rotary Club; early member of Grand Falls Chamber of Commerce. He was very proud of his Danish heritage. Jens enjoyed a potato farming career in New Denmark, with daily trips to surrounding areas after retirement in 1985. He and Gwendolyn enjoyed their camp in Riley Brook and many friends in that area as well.
Resting at O'Regan's Funeral Home, 515 Everard Daigle Blvd., Grand Falls with visiting hours Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and Thursday, at the church, from 1 to 2 p.m. His funeral service will be held Thursday, April 7th at 2 p.m. from St. Peter's Lutheran Church, New Denmark with Pastor David Knudson officiating. Interment will be in the adjoining cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in New Denmark. www.oregans.ca
