GERALD (JERRY) JOHNSON

With a peaceful dignity, surrounded by love Gerald James Johnson passed away on March 11, 2011. Gerald was born on a farm near Redwood Falls Minnesota on March 14, 1913. At the age of 3 he and his parents moved to Canada and became homesteaders on a 1/4 section of land near Chamberlain. He married Martha Steinhauer on November 29, 1939. They moved to Moose Jaw in 1943. Dad worked at Prairie Airways during the war, after which he began a long career at Central Motors eventually becoming the Used Car Dept. Foreman. He also taught Motor Mechanics for a short time at SIAST. In semi¬retirement he drove a school bus for the Thunder Creek School Division. Dad's greatest joys were his family and friends. He loved fishing, camping, the cabin at the lake, travel, dancing, history and cars. He was thankful for retirement years filled with these things. Predeceased by his loving wife of 65 years, Martha: his parents Jim and Margaret Johnson; brothers and sisters-in-law: Peter, Edgar and his wife Florence, Arnold, Wilfred and Roy Delbeck. He is survived by daughters: Peggy Johnson, Maureen (Gord) Paice and Susan (Doug) Gillies; ten grandchildren and sixteen great¬-grandchildren; sisters-in-law Edna Delbeck, Dorothy (Wilf) Longmore, Evie (Joe) Lang, Irene Steinhauer, Joan Steinhauer; brother-in-law Randy (Mona) Steinhauer and numerous nieces and nephews. The Funeral Service will be held at W.J. Jones & Son Chapel, 106 Athabasca St. E., on Friday, April 8, 2011 at 1:30 pm. Della Ferguson will officiate. Interment will follow at Rosedale Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Pioneers Lodge, 1000 Albert St., Moose Jaw, S6H 2Y2, would be greatly appreciated. In living memory of Jerry, a tree will be planted in Besant Park by W. J.
