It is with deep sadness that we announce the death of our beloved mother, sister and grandmother, Muriel Smith of 40 Crescent St., Sydney Mines.
Born in Sydney Mines, she was the daughter of the late Maurice and Elizabeth Jane (Moore) MacAulay. She was a member of Immaculate Conception Church, Sydney Mines.
She is survived by a son, Patrick (Patricia) Smith, Kingston, NS; five daughters, Mary (Igol) Hickey, Oxford, NS, Ann (Billy) Keeling, Florence, Muriel (Bill) Goldston, Westmount, Brenda Hamilton, Sydney Mines and Verna O’Sullivan, Sydney; one brother, John (Lorraine) MacAulay, Sydney Mines; a sister-in-law, Rosemary (Woolam) MacAulay, Quebec; 10 grandchildren and a number of nieces, nephews and cousins.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Matthew; infant daughter, Jean Victoria; brothers, Rev. Bill (Joyce), Bob (Helen), Maurice MacAulay and a son-in-law, Greg O’Sullivan.
Family visitation will take place at J.M. Jobes Funeral Home, Sydney Mines, today (Thursday), July 30, 2009, from 7-9 p.m. Funeral mass will take place Friday at 10:30 a.m. in Immaculate Conception Church with Fr. Thomas John officiating. Burial in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Sydney Mines.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Autism Society of Cape Breton, Red Cross, VON or Hospice/Palliative Care Society of Cape Breton would be greatly appreciated.
