June 21, 1947 – July 26, 2009
The family of Kenton Podratz is deeply saddened by his sudden passing on Sunday, July 26, 2009 at the age of 62. Kenton is lovingly remembered by his son, Andrew, Saskatoon; daughter Ashley, North Battleford; grandchildren Nacada and Kenton, North Battleford; mother, Lois (George) Podratz (nee’ Storey of Girvin, SK), Saskatoon; sister, Eleanor (Michael) Lukowich, Quensel, BC; mother-in-law Jennifer (Anthony) Levesque, North Battleford; stepson Aaron Levesque, North Battleford; aunt, Milan (Dan) Puckett, Davidson, SK; aunt, Dorothy (Lorne) Storey, Davidson SK; first cousins Ione (Tom) Irvine, Calgary AB, Jennifer (Eugene) Thompson, Kelowna BC; and Clark (Amy) Puckett, Davidson, SK; along with other aunts, uncles and cousins. Kenton was predeceased by his father, George; his nephew, Jeffrey Lukowich; his cousin, Lorna Puckett; his uncle Dan; his uncle, Lorne; and his father-in-law, Anthony Levesque. Kenton was born in Davidson, SK on June 21, 1947 and two years later, the family made their permanent home in Saskatoon. For most of his life, he was a much-valued, loyal employee at Lehner Wood Preservers of Prince Albert, SK. The family extends their warmest appreciation to the Lehner family, who embraced Kenton like family. Although Kenton was deaf as a result of severe illness in his infancy, not being able to speak did not hinder Kenton in his abundant love for his family, his friends and the beauty of our Saskatchewan forests where he worked. His kindness and generosity were shown by his actions; smiles, hugs, kisses and tears. We will all greatly miss Kenton’s gentle presence. He will be especially missed by his four year old grand-daughter Nacada, who loved to be with her loving “papaâ€. A private family interment will be held at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens on July 31, 2009. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 1, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. at Hillcrest Funeral Home (east on 8th St. turn right before railway crossing). In lieu of flowers, gifts can be directed towards the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Saskatchewan (279 3rd Ave. North, Saskatoon, SK. S7K 2H8) or the Saskatoon School for the Deaf (R.J. Williams Building, U of S). Arrangements entrusted to Susan Robertson, HILLCREST FUNERAL HOME (306) 477-4400
